The Danish Parliament’s attempts to introduce a new law aimed at reducing emissions of ammonia is claimed to be threatening 30 percent of poultry production in Denmark.
Rose Poultry, the largest poultry company in Denmark, said the law would cost Danish farmers around $500 million.
“If the law goes through, as it looks now, it will cost many of the 4,000 jobs in the poultry industry. And it's going to mean more imports and thus lower standards of animal welfare and food,” warned Per Vinther Møller, executive director of Rose Poultry, in a news release.
