Spain - Newcastle disease

Print

accinazione-Newcastle-diseaseThe veterinary authorities sent Follow Up Report No 2. dated 23 March to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
According to the report, 30 days having elapsed after completing the procedures of cleaning and disinfection in the affected farm, restriction measures applied in the farms located in the surveillance and protection zone were lifted on 23 January 2010, without any new outbreak of Newcastle disease being detected to date.
According to Article 10.13.3. of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, if Newcastle disease virus infection has occurred in poultry, a previously free country, zone or compartment can regain its free status three months after a stamping-out policy (including disinfection of all affected establishments) is applied, providing that surveillance has been carried out during this period. Therefore, Spain declares regaining its country free status from notifiable Newcastle disease as from 23 March 2010.
