Scottish Census discloses a fall in animal numbers

1946-scozia-bandiera-flagScotland's Chief Statistician has published final results from the 2009 June Agricultural Census. There were declines in the number of all farm livestock and poultry compared to the census in June 2008, including 4.5 per cent fewer broilers and 1.3 per cent fewer laying hens. The size of the poultry flock fell by 496,356 (3.6 per cent), to 13.3 million. There was a decrease in the number of broiler and other birds for meat production of 383,072 (4.5 per cent).
