Local media reports that several Ukrainian enterprises are ready to export poultry and livestock to the EU.
According to Peter Verbitsky, the head of the Ukrainian State Veterinary Medicine Committee, they are currently continuing negotiations with the European Union's veterinary committee, which has to decide whether to grant Ukraine the right to issue permits on livestock exports to EU countries.
"The next talks will be held in September-October this year, resulting in getting a final approval to export these products to the EU," said Verbitsky.
European experts have already inspected a number of Ukrainian enterprises (see Zootecnica International, 2009 July-August issue), and gave their authorization to some of them on export of eggs, dairy products, poultry and beef to the European Union.
