In Switzerland, about 417,330 tonnes of meat was consumed in 2008, which is more than 53 kg per inhabitant.According to Proviande, the Swiss meat association, the total amount was 3% more than in 2007 and increased for the fourth consecutive year.
Referring to poultry meat, during the last year about 85,000 tonnes were sold; the consumption increased by 7.3% and according to Proviande 50 per cent of poultry meat is produced domestically.
