During the first ten months of 2008, Argentinean exports of fresh meat and processed poultry products were 160,116 tons and $240.7 million, which is equivalent to a 35% increase in volume and 60% in dollar-value, the National Board for Agrifood and Health and Quality (SENASA) said.
In the same period of 2007, the figures were 118,281 tonnes and $149.8 million, respectively. Of the total deliveries, fresh meat - whole birds, breast and thigh - totalled 114,064 tonnes for a value of $180.6 million, an increase of 82% in value and 53% in volume.
Venezuela and Chile represented the main markets for Argentinean poultry. Other significant markets were South Africa, US, the Netherlands, UK and Germany.
