China’s wheat output reached 126.27 million tonnes this year, up 3.12 million tonnes or 2.5% over the same period last year; while early rice output was 32.76 million tonnes, up 1.43 million tonnes or 4.5%, according to the National Statistics Bureau.
The authorities at the bureau expect corn production to see a bumper harvest again this year. In the third quarter, total meat production including pork, beef, lamb and poultry was 54.53 million tonnes, an increase of 0.2% year-on-year - pork production reached 35.68 million tonnes, down 0.6%.
