Poultry breeders in Bangladesh opposes DOC imports

Print

bangladeshThe Breeder's Association of Bangladesh expressed strong opposition over the government's recent decision to allow imports of hatching eggs and DOC from India to tackle their shortage in the country. Association leaders alleged that the poultry industry had been suffering from the bird flu  since the last couple of years due to these imports. They said the industry lost more than BDT 50,000 million (USD 677 million), while this year’s outbreak resulted in around BDT 7000 million (USD 95 million) in losses. They alleged that a group had been trying to destroy the poultry industry in Bangladesh and pushing the nation towards import dependency.
