India's biggest broiler integrator Suguna Poultry Farms has stopped giving franchise licenses for outlets that sell live birds under the "Suguna" brand. The move indicates that the company will be focusing more on processed chicken as its sales is growing at a much higher rate than live birds. Managing Director B. Soundararajan said Suguna sold 755 tonnes of processed chicken in 2009/2010 fiscal or nearly double from the previous year. In the first quarter of 2010/2011 alone, its processed chicken sales reached 210 tonnes.
