Print
Fiera-Forl-logoThere are two fundamental issues around which Fiera di Forlì has organized several debates involving operators in the poultry and rabbit breeding sectors as part of FierAvicola 2011, the international Poultry and Rabbit Trade Fair April 7-9, 2011 in the Romagna city (Italy), which for years has been the centre of the national poultry market.

Alongside commercial activities, business meetings between national and foreign operators, enriched by the presence of foreign delegations hosted by Fiera di Forlì as part of the internationalization project being conducted in collaboration with ICE, the provincial Chamber of Commerce, the Emilia Romagna Region and other regional trade fair entities, there will be an extensive program of conferences and debates.

The organizers are concentrating their efforts on two major topics. The first is the deadline for application of new EU regulations on laying hens’ wellbeing, which is currently raising questions and problems for breeders. During the meeting “The state-of-the-art application of EU Directive 74/99 on laying hens’ wellbeing”, organized in collaboration with ASSOAVI Friday afternoon, April 8th, there will be an important discussion between company managers as well as testimony on an international level regarding how to reduce operators’ problems in light of the eminent enforcement of the new law in January, 2012. Steps taken in other countries to implement the directive will be analyzed, as well as problems related to possible different compliances within the European Union; representatives from industry organization will also be contributing.

The conference will also entail the introduction of the European Atlas of egg production, containing data on quotas and recent market changes, produced by ISPA of Vechta University in Germany.

Saturday morning, April 9th Avitalia, CRPA and COPA-Cogeca, along with Emilia Romagna Region and the Province of Forlì-Cesena will offer reflections on the topic of agro-energy, now more important than ever. Topics will be addressed such as the economic and regulatory scene in Italy and the European Union; technical perspectives on the use of zootechnical fluents to produce energy and the treatment of nitrates in the European Union. To add to the debate several entrepreneurs will be testifying with some effective solutions they have adopted.

Completing FierAvicola’s conference program will be the meetings organized by ACIS – Associazione Scientifica Italiana di Coniglicultura (Italian Scientific Association for Rabbit Breeding), SIPA – Società italiana di Patologia Aviare (Italian Society for Poultry Pathology) and WPSA, the World Poultry Science Association.
